First - full disclosure - I am a member of the Sydney Taylor Book Award Committee who had the honor of reading and reviewing "The Yankee at the Seder" for the award. I love this book and am delighted that it was given an Honor Award. The story is excellent and the illustrations are exquisite.

Second, it is so nice to read that Elka is a woman after my own heart. As someone who devotes every spare moment to pointing out the Jewish values content in secular books, it is encouraging to read about a parent and an author who feels exactly as I do.

Finally, This was a fantastic interview. Thank you, Laurel, for supporting the Sydney Taylor Book Award Committee and participating in the blog tour. Also for asking such insightful questions. Thank you, Elka, for your responses which were so open and provided us with a deeper look into the book and how it came to be. I look forward to your next publications.

I loved this story from the moment I opened the cover. I loved it so much that I read it during the Shabbat that fell during Pesach last year. To a group of adults. There was not a dry eye in the house at the end. It was a moving story. About the complexities of emotion and reasoning and truth and Truth. So thrilled that it was honoured. And so thankful to learn more about the author! A great interview!!
